Kiji

Well, Kiji didn’t show up to our little IRC meeting last night, and I have no idea where he is. I’ll be contacting him. We really need to get this worked out if he still wants in on this project. We’ll see what’s going on then I guess.

Story

I’ve gotten a hold of Kiji, and we are going to start doing work on the Terra Aevum story tonight after I get off work. We’ll be focusing this time on character design and plot concepts. In about a month or two, we’ll get to actual work on the graphic novel. There is a lot of work for us to do on this, so wish us luck.

Here’s a brief intro to some of the ideas I’m working on. They are far from complete, and there is no plot written yet, so don’t judge too harshly.

The year is 3042 T.E., and man is strewn about the reaches of space like so many grains of sand. Many of our civilizations have born and died since we have left our home system of Sol. We have been left to our own devices, and have formed a diverse set of beliefs and morals. We do not always agree, and we often fight each other. The brightness of our future is still unknown.

Yeah, I know, it’s not much. I do have more, but I don’t want to spill the beans on everything before I’ve finalized it. Maybe I’ll introduce some characters and plot over here while we are developing it. Keep watching this blog and I’ll keep you posted.

Damn ISP

Alright, as many of you know I work from home. Today, my internet connection goes out in its entirety. I lost my phone as well, so I couldn’t even call in to find out what the hell was going on. Anyway, today I’m over at a friends house, using his internet to do my job so that I don’t lose it. I’m obviously making this post from there as well.

What am I going to do about it, you might be thinking. Well, I’ve taken it upon myself to get off of digital phone services for more traditional POTS. I will also be arranging for redundant internet services. I’m not too worried about the cost, as I can always write it off at the end of the year as a necessary business expense. Without internet, I can’t work. If I can’t work, I can’t pay taxes. The IRS is pretty forgiving when it comes to things that are required in order to make money for them to tax.

Now, I won’t say anything about which ISP I’m currently using, because this is a public blog and I can get fired for bad mouthing companies. So yeah, you’ll just have to figure it out on your own. Also, I don’t want anyone to think my issues are common with the company I’m using, as I’ve had them for quite some time with no issues. They’ve given me many years of good service, so I believe they still deserve the benefit of the doubt.

Well, that’s all that I’ve got for now, my lunch break is almost over and I need to get back to work.

Graphics and Other Things

I was talking to a friend of mine on IRC, trying to recruit her for her artistic abilities on some web projects of mine. She seems interested, with the understanding that I plan to more fully flesh out my design concepts before bringing them forward to her. She’s a very good artist, in my opinion, so obviously I’ll be paying her for her talents. I’m also curious as to whether or not she might be interested in doing Terra Aevum with me.

Speaking of Terra Aevum, that’s one huge bucket of worms there. I’ve hashed, re-hashed, and trashed so many ideas on that project. I don’t think I’ll be ready to publish that one for quite some time yet. I think for now, I’ll just do some character concepts and try to flesh out the world a bit. The main problem with that work has mostly been plot. There is no real plot to it at all. Oh, sure, I have a million and a half ideas for plots, but I can’t seem to work them into a cohesive pattern. This is very annoying. Worst case scenario, the entire project gets scrapped.

Playing Around with Google Calendar

Well, I’ve been playing around with Google Calendar in order to try and post my work schedule up in this blog. It doesn’t work too well. In order to make the widget fit, I have to shrink it down so much that you can’t click any of the links. Perhaps if there were more options, such as showing a weekly display? I don’t know. I guess it really isn’t all that important anyway.br /br /I’ve found that Google Calendar doesn’t play nice in general with anything. It doesn’t like to speak to Sunbird ( using the CalDav publishing protocol, just showing events works fine ) either. Anyway, I’m now looking for an alternative online calendar that will do what I want, and work with the tools that I want to use without all this hassle. Any suggestions would be most welcome, however, I’m not ready to beg for them yet. I’ve just started my research as of now. Well, I’m starting it after this entry anyway. This whole post is really just a rant anyway.br /br /Actually, before replacing it, I want to check with another CalDav calendar application to see if it’s a problem with Google or Sunbird. Google states that CalDav is experimental at this time, so I’m willing to say it’s a problem with Google, but maybe I’m doing it too out of hand. I’ll also try configuring it with a windows version of Sunbird to ensure it’s not just my RPM that’s out of whack. Anyway, I’ll be sure to let you know of my progress as soon as I figure something out.
