Starting Up OTM Again

Getting ready to reboot On The Mark (OTM). I’ll be shooting videos today, and editing them for publishing just as fast as I can. I hope to have quite a few ready to go. I’ve seen the popularity of the old ones, which are kind of bad, so I’m hoping that with my improved knowledge, I can do better ones and that they’ll be more popular. It is my hope that most of my viewers won’t run ad block on their browsers, or that they will disable it for my content so that I might be able to make a little bit of money in order to help me produce better content as time goes on. Please do try to forgive any technical issues with the product, as I am developing this with zero budget, and no background in video production. It is my hope to continue doing this for a very long time, and if it’s successful enough, I’ll either take some courses on video production, or I’ll hire an editor. I can’t do that right now, as I can’t pay an editor.

Goals:

  • Teach people how to use Linux
  • Make it easy enough for beginners, but with enough that those with a bit more knowledge might learn something as well
  • Show people that Linux isn’t as scary as it used to be
  • Examine the differences between different distributions, and provide reviews
  • Help people decide whether Linux is for them, and if so, help them to decide which distribution best fits their needs and technical level of expertise

Focus:

  • Insight into the inner workings of the GNU/Linux OS, using Arch Linux as a base platform as it allows me to demonstrate the most things effectively
  • Analyzing the future of Linux as a viable desktop operating system, with a focus on usability and security concerns

I hope that gives you all an idea of what OTM is about. I don’t have as much time as I would like to dedicate to it, but I will give you all that I have. I want to have at least one new video up a month, but if I can get some income out of this, I’ll try to do it weekly. The first few videos will be tutorial videos, but future videos will include news and reviews as well. Please tell any of your friends that have an interest, or might be interested, in Linux, so that they can help spread the word and make this a successful operation. Watch this playlist for future videos! Thank you for visiting my blog, and I do hope to continue providing you content that brings you back again and again!
